Part
of the Alois Alzheimer Center's mission
is to contribute to the understanding
of Alzheimer's Disease. It is our hope
that the new information and knowledge
we provide will help existing and future
individuals touched by Alzheimer's disease
and their families. The Alois Alzheimer
Center acts as a resource for individuals,
families, communities and future health
care professionals by offering interaction
with experienced staff and a clinical
setting for students.
The Alois
Alzheimer Center provides an environment
which coordinates and
conducts research that will improve
the care of individuals with Alzheimer's
disease and dementia. Local and
national research projects are continuously
in process, ranging from measuring
the effects of specific programs to
experimental drug treatments. Research
participation is completely voluntary
and
conducted only with prior approval.
Students
are provided with opportunities for
education and research through long-standing
affiliations with regional colleges
including the world-class medical school
at the University of Cincinnati. Through
these
partnerships we hope to increase knowledge
of the disease and develop new treatments. Educational
involvement stimulates and motivates
our staff, and ensures state-of-the-art
care for families and residents. The
information generated is shared nationally
and internationally to enhance care
for individuals with dementia worldwide.
